Hamilton, OH - Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum is excited to announce an upcoming exhibition in partnership with the Mid-South Sculpture Alliance.
Opening this June, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum will be holding an exhibition of nine sculptures in its outdoor sculpture park in partnership with the Mid-South Sculpture Alliance. Selected by a jury, the sculptures are a mix of abstract and representational work from artists around the country. The exhibition will run through November 2021.
The MSA is a membership based non-profit and is an affiliate organization of the International Sculpture Center (ISC). Its membership is open to anyone, anywhere with an interest in and commitment to the field of sculpture. As an organization, the mission of MSA is to advance the creation and awareness of sculpture in its many and varied forms, and seeks to encourage the understanding that sculpture educates, effects social change, and engages artists, art professionals, and the community in dialogue.
“Putting this outdoor sculpture exhibit together alongside the MSA was a lot of fun,” explains Sean FitzGibbons, Pyramid Hill Executive Director, “We had more than 60 sculptures submitted from MSA members, the art committee faced a difficult task, curating that list down to the nine that are on display at the park. My favorite part of this project was engaging sculptors from all over the country and bringing them to the Hamilton/Cincinnati area.”
Next fall, the MSA will hold their conference at Pyramid Hill. At this time, exhibiting artists will participate in an Artist Walk during which each artist will discuss their work - the conception and making of the exhibited work - while touring the grounds of Pyramid Hill. While the conference will be open to MSA members only, the Artist Walk will be open to the public.
"Public art is critically important to our organization and MSA has a long record of community engagement with cities and sculpture parks,” explains Baggs McKelvey, MSA managing director, “We are thrilled to partner with Pyramid Hill to launch the MSA Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition as part of this mission. The selected artists represent a cross section of talent and interests of the members of MSA."
